London Graphic Centre, Free Art Gear & A Giveaway!

As the title suggests, there's a whole lot of things to get through in this post so I'm just going to jump straight into it! Last week I attended my first ever blogger event (hello perks of now living in London - things actually happen where I live!). I was so happy to have the opportunity to go to this one as it was a rare chance to get a whole bunch of creative bloggers in the same place at the same time.

The event was organised by the lovely people at London Graphic Centre and was held in their flagship shop in Covent Garden. LGC have been providing the very best selection of art supplies for over 40 years and their incredible range of art gear had us all drooling throughout the evening. In fact, they're listed as Time Out's number one stationary store in London, so it's pretty much the perfect setting for a creative blogger event! If you take a crowd of creative bloggers, tonnes of pens, a giant colouring in sheet and throw in some free wine, then it's bound to be a brilliant night and it certainly was!

First, us bloggers got the chance to sample London Graphic Centre's new tote bag which is filled with art goodies from the likes of Staedtler, Derwent, Caran d'Ache, Promarker and Fritag. The design on the tote itself is by staff member and practising animator and illustrator Alex Widdowson, and we were talked through his inspirations and influences for the image from brief right the way through to the finished product. He pays homage to RenĂ© Magritte ('This Is Not A Pipe' anyone?) while also including the pencil which is personally symbolic to him of the most basic tool of creative expression.

But the tote isn't really for us creative bloggers! #LGCStudentDay will be happening on Tuesday 6th October 10am-7pm, and there will be 1000 of these bags to give away with every purchase and, even better, students will be offered a 15% discount off everything! It's a great opportunity if you're an art student to get to know one of the best art stores around, as they'll be able to support your artistic studies here in London, right through to your graduation and beyond. The great thing about shopping for your art supplies at LGC is that all of the staff have a creative background and will be able to offer genuine knowledge and advice on the products available. If the person you speak to can't answer your question then you can bet they know someone who can! As a design student myself, it's great to know there's still this kind of face to face advice around in an ever increasing online world.

After the chat about their student day, tote bag and exciting plans for halloween and christmas, we were back on the shop floor to do some mini workshops and test some exciting new products that will be in store soon (about which we're sworn to secrecy for now!). As the evening drew to a close we continued the creative chat in a local pub and it was honestly so inspiring to talk to people who really 'get' what you're about! You can bore your friends and family to death with it but who's really going to understand the importance of the perfect flat lay better than fellow bloggers with the exact same hobby as you? Everybody was just as lovely in real life as they are online and I have to say I had a slight fangirl moment when I saw Ella Masters!

And now for the really exciting part.... on top of hosting such a wonderful event, London Graphic Centre were kind enough to donate one of their best selling prodcts, a Freitag Dexter bag worth £150, for me to give away to one of you! The giveaway will end at midnight on Wednesday 14th October so you've got two weeks to get your entries in below! I will be contacting the winner the following week.

I’m so happy to be able to offer this giveaway for you guys, all thanks to the generous folk at London Graphic Centre - even if I'm slightly jealous that I can't keep the prize for myself!

I loved every minute of meeting all of these incredibly talented and creative people. It went by so quickly and I think we're all wanting to make #cblogger meet ups happen a bit more regularly in the future! I can't tell you how welcoming and lovely the guys at London Graphic Centre are and I really recommend making a visit to the shop for #LGCStudentDay - I'll be back very shortly to purchase the best card I've probably ever seen in my life (Glam Rock - get it?!). I'll finish with a list of all of the fabulous creative bloggers and links to their blogs so that you can have a gander!

PHEW! I think I said it all.
